Success Story: Qamer

Qamer has been working at Behbud Association since 1984 and her life has been greatly improved because of it. Before she started, Qamer had been finding it difficult to use her skills to improve her household’s financial situation. Working at Behbud gave her the chance to not only put her skills to use, but to also expand her skillset and learn more in related fields. With the economic freedom and job security, both of which many women are able to gain through employment at Bhebud, Qamer’s financial situation greatly improved.

Her skills included sewing frocks and teaching the smocking design used on these frocks to fifteen other women who were also working at Behbud. For every piece Qamer sewed, she was promptly paid by Behbud. It was the responsibility of Behbud to sell these products, however long it might take.

Today, Qamer proudly shares, “Doing all this work I have arranged marriages for my four children and bought a house and have done two Umrahs.” One of her sons works in a reputable company, and the other works on textile print designs.
